Collins Bay marina is at the eat end of Collins Bay, and is actually on the water. The polygon for this area needs to be refined (which I will do as a learning exercise, when time allows).

I taught Kindergarten there for three years 1965-68. I have a couple of pictures. Mr. Tenant was the principal, I believe.

I went here in the late 90's, was a part of the last classes there. Anyone have any pictures or videos of the school from back then? feeling nostalgic.

Hi Marlene: I also went to Duncan Mc Arthur in the mid 1960's. I am researching for a project, and came across your post.

Hindalco is a subsidiary of Novelis, not a replacement for it and certainly not an actual neigbourhood in the City of Kingston. See novelis.com/celebrating-75-years-at-novelis-kingston/
  • Calvin Park Public Library, carlb (guest) wrote 7 years ago:
Calvin Park didn't exist until the mid-1960s, when it was built as an in-fill between Kingston and an existing inner suburb, Polson Park. The original Calvin Park branch of the Kingston Public Library displayed '1966' as the date on the cornerstone, making it the third branch (Kingscourt had a small KPL branch from 1959-2017 and there was a main branch downtown).

I went there in 1952/53, starting in 7th grade. We lived across the street on Elmwood. Grades 7 and 8 were in the same room. They moved me across the room into grade 8 during the school year. Mr. Warren was principal and taught both grades 7 and 8. The area was sparsely populated, really at the edge of Kingston. The next year I was bused to KCVI for grade 9, but I didn't finish the year because we moved to Alberta in April. Cary Davids

I completed a CELE42C course between 1990-1993 I was a CFR/Captain We all signed a book recognizing our class as CELE officers. However I don't remember ever receiving a diploma confirming this designation. Is there any way that I could obtain a copy at this point in my life now that I have retired. I know we had RMC professors as teachers and I would certainly like to get either another original or a copy for my retention. Glenn Woolfrey (Capt. Retired)

  • Elliott Avenue, Luanne (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
I used to live on Elliot Avenue in the 1960's in an old farmhouse that we were told was called Bricelyn House (sp?). It was torn down in the 60's to make way for something to do with the train station which was nearby but nothing was ever built in that regard. There used to be old barns and outbuildings on the property that we used to play in. At the bottom of Elliot Avenue there was a "pumphouse" and little access spot for swimming where we used to play. Also, just up the street on Maple Street in the 1950's we lived in a kind of "tarpaper" house across from an old abandoned tileworks. Another family that were our neighbours were the Mack family. Viva Mack later moved to a seniors building on Princess Street and was murdered sometime in the 1990's. It would be great to find any old photos or stories about this area.

"Upscale" in Kingston is the same as upscale anywhere in Canada. Kingston is an elegant historical city (the pearl of Ontario) with many fine establishments.

We may need to create a new category called 'Public Facilities', and place the pull-up bar station in that category.

  • Kingston Lawn Bowling Club - Lawn Bowling fields, Judy (guest) wrote 13 years ago:
For more information contact the Kingston Lawn Bowling Club by sending an email to kingstonlawnbowlingclub@hotmail.ca or check out the facebook page. Lawn bowling is a sport that is easy to learn and is one of the only sports where younger persons can play and participate along with their parents or even their grandparents. Come on out and give it a try - no special equipment is required except for flat soled shoes or runners with less than 1/4 inch tread. Instruction is free and bowls can be rented for a nominal fee. You do not need to be athletic - if you are able to walk you are probably able to bowl.
